koda amsterdam crafts one-of-a-kind, beautiful, and enduring accessories using surplus fabrics from the best Dutch brands. Our goal is to blend beauty, clarity, and sophistication to brighten your everyday life. Both the materials and the designs possess a timeless quality, as if they've always been part of your world.
At koda, we believe there's hidden value in everything - nothing is truly waste. Driven by this perspective and our passion for textile, craftsmanship and design, we unite Dutch designers and Dutch makers to create our products.
The designers we work with share our passion for textiles. Their designs are meticulously crafted in special ateliers: sheltered workshops dedicated to nurturing talent. Through passion and skilled craftsmanship, we produce pencil cases, bags, cushions, and plaids. Each koda piece is uniquely designed, exclusively for you.
koda was founded in 2013 by Diana van Dongen, who, after 20 years of retail experience in various roles, felt the need to contribute to our beautiful planet. She met De Ploeg at Dutch Design Week Eindhoven, where they were exhibiting products made from one week's worth of 'cut waste' upholstery fabric. Her question was, "Why not use all your waste in a structural way?"
Working in close partnership with the Dutch designers, the makers in the ateliers, the fabric brands and buyers from design- and museum stores is a rewarding aspect for Diana: nurturing connections and collaborative creation are integral to her DNA - and consequently, to koda's as well.
